Wednesday, February 6, 2013
Remember, you may post questions/comments/ideas in real-time during seminars by accessing and posting on: http://todaysmeet.com/nfeldmannPD

Show and Tell: What experiences, struggles, celebrations have you encountered in the last month? Show and/or tell the participants about it!
Hook:
Death of Powerpoint by Don McMillan video (What not to do!)

Discussion:

What “tools” do you use for creating and presenting in your classroom? (your creations or your student's creations)

What else is out there?

Prezi, Animoto, VoiceThread, Glogster, xtranormal, voki for example

When deciding what to use, you must consider:

Consider the content/task, what will best showcase the learning?
Consider your audience, what will keep their interest?
Consider your learners, what will they prefer?

Video & Active Participation:
Overview of the four stations...show examples of student created work from past classroom projects on each of the sites: Prezi, Glogster, xtranormal, and Animoto

Four Stations: (I'm anticipating that participants will choose to attend one station, watch the demonstration video, get started creating a lesson or requirements for a project, and then possibly check out another station if time permits. Begin to think about how you are going to introduce this to your students. If you make a step-by-step handout or project requirements, please attach a copy of it below so other teachers can view it for their use, too!
  1. Prezi
  • Watch the tutorial video at: http://prezi.com/learn/ (there are three videos here for different levels of ability...and a cheat sheet!)
  • Choose to either make an example presentation of something your students will create or a presentation to use as instruction.
    2. Animoto
  • Watch the tutorial video at: http://help.animoto.com/entries/20461613-the-new-animoto-video-creation-process-a-video-tutorial-guide (there is a first time user tutorial as well as a new feature explanations!)
  • Choose to either make an example video of something your students will create or a video to use as instruction.
    3. Glogster
  • Watch the tutorial video at: http://edu.glogster.com/?page=videos&cat=HowtoCreateShareGlogs (there are numerous videos here for different levels of ability...you'll likely need to watch more than one clip!)
  • Choose to either make an example glog of something your students will create or a glog to use as instruction.
    4. Xtranormal
  • Watch the tutorial video at: http://www.xtranormal.com/how-to/ (a great tutorial that walks you right through the process!)
  • Choose to either make an example video of something your students will create or a video to use as instruction.

Reflection: (watch for recap of questions/confusions on the wiki!)
  • What have you learned/taken away from today's seminar?
  • What is most useful? What are you still confused about?
