Wednesday, March 13, 2013
Remember, you may post questions/comments/ideas in real-time during seminars by accessing and posting on: http://todaysmeet.com/nfeldmannPD

Show and Tell: What experiences, struggles, celebrations have you encountered in the last month? Show and/or tell the participants about it!

Hook:

Discussion:
What do you already do to foster collaboration, whether between students in your classroom or beyond?

How do we begin to foster collaboration in our classroom and beyond, connecting with other classrooms, schools, districts, states, countries?

Where can we go?

Video/Demonstration:
A few examples of possible (starting out) platforms (how-to videos!):
www.edmodo.com video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KtWSaVdzkI kidblog video
we already know how to use wikispaces from the book study!

Active Participation:
In anticipation for various needs/wants, participants DO NOT need to attend all three stations if they would prefer to work on getting at least one of the three started to use in their classroom. They may, however, get a look at all three stations if they would prefer to learn more about each one, and then take time to set up an account!Three stations where teachers can begin to set up an account to use the tool(s) in the classroom:
1. Wikispaces - www.wikispaces.com
2. Edmodo - www.edmodo.com
3. KidBlog - www.kidblog.com
Begin to think about how you are going to introduce this to your students. What steps will they take to make their first post, similar to the introduction post we made? If you make a step-by-step handout or video, please attach it below for other teachers to use.
Reflection:** (watch for recap of questions/confusions on the wiki!)
  • What have you learned/taken away from today's seminar?
  • What is most useful? What are you still confused about?
